Nguyễn Trần Cường dắt ta vào thiên nhiên sơn mài của anh qua các tầng cảm xúc.

Sơn mài với lý tính và chất cảm Á Đông đặc biệt đã được Nguyễn Trần Cường tôn trọng và khai thác theo cách vừa truyền thống và biến hoá ở phẩm chất cao nhất. Khi ta không còn thấy sự dụng công, gắng sức thể hiện, phải bày tỏ nhiều về chất liệu. Sơn và Mài cứ thế tự nhiên quyến rũ, chảy trong rủ rỉ tâm sự của Nguyễn Trần Cường.

Lần này với bộ sưu tập mới nhất Anh không ngại thay cả bảng màu son đỏ và then bằng một màu xanh nhiều sắc độ để thấy sự sâu thẳm.

Ta bước vào khu vườn. Những lớp lang của vòm lá, từng lớp cây thấp, cao ẩn hiện. Vệt nắng dát vàng trên ngọn lá, lấp lánh chuyển màu. Ta theo anh ngắm những ngọn núi đang chuyển mùa.

Thị giác của ta được thoả mãn với sắc xanh và độ chuyển tinh tế của màu xanh trong ẩn, hiện cân bằng của màu trắng vỏ trứng.

Thiên nhiên bắt đầu từ sự nhìn.

“Chạm” đến hơi ẩm của mùa đang chuyển.

“Chạm” đến cơn gió bảng lảng trên vòm lá.

“Chạm “ đến nguồn sáng soi vạn vật.

Và  rồi ta “ Chạm” đến thiên nhiên của anh.

Có một thiên nhiên như khu vườn tĩnh lặng khe khẽ cựa mình sau các lớp rêu, các mạch gạch, nơi những sinh vật li ti ẩn náu. Náu mình, ẩn bên dưới những lớp mài chợt ra sau từng lớp sơn. Một quá trình từ rất thực đến biến ảo như khám phá những tầng ký ức, những trầm tích của thời gian.

Và sau rốt ta “Cảm” được những hình hài, vóc dáng cái Tôi của Nguyễn Trần Cường vừa ẩn vừa hé lộ sau các lớp “mài”.

Lặng là bản tính của Nguyễn Trần Cường.

Nguyen Tran Cuong leads us into his lacquered landscape through subtle layers of emotion.

Lacquer - rooted in the rationality and profound sensibility of Eastern aesthetics - is respected and explored by Nguyen Tran Cuong in a way that is both traditional and transformative at its highest refinement. When the labor of making disappears, when there is no longer the urge to demonstrate or overstate the material, lacquer and burnishing simply unfold on their own - seductive and natural - as if whispering Cuong’s quiet confessions.

In this latest collection, he does not hesitate to replace the familiar palette of vermilion and black with a deep spectrum of greens - a color of depth and stillness.

We step into a garden.

Layers of canopies unfold; low and tall foliage flickering in and out of sight. Golden sunlight glides across leaf tips, shimmering as it shifts. We follow him to watch the mountains turn toward a new season.

Our eyes are indulged by the richness of green and the subtle transitions within it, balanced by the soft presence of eggshell white.
